Trip to Terrace

Interesting Interviews

My interview with President Gill was quite interesting. I always look forward to chatting with President and Sister Gill, they are some of the greatest people I know. My interviews continue to get more and more interesting. 1. I went through a device audit of another missionaries’ phone with him. Honestly, I wasn’t expecting to do that in an interview, but I guess that’s cool. Most of everything on the phone was pretty good, I did see a Travis Scott song in there, which you know, probably isn’t missionary approved, so I brought that up with him; but other than that we are chilling. 2. He asked me if I would be okay not seeing the rest of the mission. Which I wasn’t really expecting .But I said I would be okay with that. 3. He said that he’ll have us (the technology missionaries) go to every zone conference from now on. 4. He asked me how things have been balancing the zone leader, tech assignment, and missionary work has been going. I said that we’ve been able to balance them out pretty well so far. Since we are opening up a new teaching pool in Richmond, the missionary work aspect hasn’t been too demanding in terms of time. It’s been about 65% missionary work, 35% technology work. He told me he can separate the zone leadership and technology assignment if I feel that it was too demanding. I believe we can definitely keep balancing the zone leadership stuff if we continue working in Richmond. President was thinking about moving the zone leader area, so we will see what happens. I just got to say President and Sister Gill are so sweet. They said that I was a gift to this mission. He also mentioned if I ever feel guilty or bad that I can’t balance out my assignments, those feelings are coming from Satan. He emphasized just how grateful he and Sister Gill are for all the work I’m doing. Interviews were not quite what I expected this time around, but I am so incredibly grateful for this experience. After that Elder Evans and I did roleplays with all of the missionaries after interviews. It went really well; we had everyone practice teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ with a baptismal invitation. It was really awesome to witness all the missionaries in the zone teach. Elder Evans said that his interview also went really well. President Gill complimented his tie so he’s going to try and see if he can get a tie trade with him before he goes home next transfer haha. He also said that he had Elder Evans down to be AP, but he feels like he’s better needed in this assignment. Elder Evans said that he’s honestly not disappointed about it, and glad that he’s able to do trainings with me at each zone conference.

Book of Mormon Miracle

Today was really tiring, which was kinda weird because we didn’t really do too much. We went to church and President and Sister Gill came for sacrament meeting too. After that we had ward council which went longer than expected, but it was still good. Once we all got home we were drained. Half of us fell asleep during personal study haha, Sunday always hits differently. After that we had a really cool experience when we began finding. We met a guy and we were able to have some good conversation about God and truth. He said that he’s done some research and believed in agnosticism. We asked him a few questions on how we can find evidence of God. Elder Evans shared the Book of Mormon with him and invited him to read it. He said he wasn’t really interested and didn’t want a book that he wouldn’t read. I shared my personal experience with the spirit and praying to know truth. We chat a bit more and at the end of the conversation he actually said he changed his mind and asked for the Book of Mormon. It’s amazing to see how the spirit opens people’s hearts.

Traveling the Mission (Terrace trip)

We had the wonderful opportunity to deliver another zone conference training on the Preach My Gospel application. It is kinda crazy being able to travel the mission with the assistants and the social media sisters. Unfortunately the Haida Gwaii Elders were unable to join us at zone conference in person because their ferry was canceled due to the rough waves. We were able to setup a Zoom meeting for them to join, which proved to be a lot more difficult than it should have been haha; due to the lack of equipment. But we made due with what we had, and it worked out for them. By the time we had our training, we were a bit stressed with all of the technical issues, but we were able to do the training and I hope it went well. We spent some time polishing up the presentation and our training the night before, but unfortunately we didn’t have an HDMI for the TV so it didn’t work out as well as I would have hoped. But that’s okay, it seemed like the training was well received and we all were learning during it so that was good.

Spiritual Thought

“Father in Heaven knew that you would face challenges and be required to make some decisions that would be beyond your own ability to decide correctly. In His plan of happiness, He included a provision for you to receive help with such challenges and decisions during your mortal life. That assistance will come to you through the Holy Ghost as spiritual guidance. It is a power, beyond your own capability, that a loving Heavenly Father wants you to use consistently for your peace and happiness.” (To Acquire Spiritual Guidance by Elder Richard G. Scott)
