The Future of Prince George

The YSA are flocking to Prince George.

We had a lesson setup and secured with Brendan. He reached out to us and asked if it would be okay to bring a friend. That’s like the greatest thing that you could ever want someone to send you as a missionary! So when they arrived at the church, they all got out of the vehicle. To our surprise these were three YSA. We couldn’t believe it! It was incredible! Once we entered the church, I also couldn’t believe how busy the church was, it’s usually never busy during the day. There were kids running down the hallway—Brother Fraser was sitting on the couch and got to meet all of our new friends. We almost couldn’t find a room where we could teach them. They were almost all full on that side of the building. Luckily we found the perfect room, the High Council room. It was good, our new friends got a taste of the fun of the church activities as we were in the process of locating a room. I’m happy to report that we had a really great lesson with them; and of course we had to do the restoration! The lesson is hands down the best one, nobody can convince me otherwise. It’s the message that the world needs to hear, and it matters the most. They seemed quite interested too which was awesome! Questions were asked, and they had some good ones. Sometimes you really have to work for the answer because some people give the crappiest questions and there’s not much to work with. But their questions were either leading to the future of the lesson, or just were simply “good.” An example of this was, one asked, “how do they call prophets in the church?” We asked if they’ve heard about Joseph Smith before, and most of them said yes. We were probably both thinking, “oh crap.” It’s either a really good thing, or more likely a really bad thing. We then quickly followed-up and asked, “well, what do you know about Joseph Smith.” To which we get the reply, “not much, just have heard of him.” So they may have heard some things, but I’m glad that they were still willing to meet for a lesson and learn more, despite what they may or may not have already heard of him. One of them already had the Book of Mormon app on her phone, so that was super cool! We gave the two other ones copies of the Book of Mormon and they agreed to read some of it and pray about it. Pretty cool experience, definitely was not expecting that going into the lesson. But I’m grateful that the YSA is growing in Prince George.

Sickness goin’ around

So Elder Snow got a bit sick. We slowed down a bit, and unfortunately we weren’t able to make it to church on Sunday. We didn’t want to get anyone else sick so we thought it would be best to stay home. Which is so sad, because Landen came and brought his girlfriend to church. Luckily he texted us and said they had a good time at church and she said that she can see herself becoming a member; man you can’t get a better text than that as a missionary. The YSA continues to flourish! Elder Snow was getting better the following day so that’s been good.

Transfer News

This morning we opened up transfer news and I discovered that I am going to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island! So that’s pretty cool. I thought I was going to be transferred to another area up north, but I guess not. Dodged the Canadian winter haha. It should be pretty good, I’m looking forward to the next transfer. My new companion, Elder Cockx, has been there for five transfers. Which is kinda crazy, I remember dropping him and the trio he was with off at the Ferry while I was in Richmond.
